Devils’dance
THE NEW JERSEY DEVILS ARE PRIMED for a very long playoff run this spring and the best thing about it is their games will not have to be accompanied by a disclaimer about viewer discretion being advised. No need to send the children to bed and watch the games between your fingers. We’re here to inform you the Devils will win their fourth Stanley Cup in 14 years sometime in early June. We’re also here to talk all of you off the ledge. Having the Devils win the Cup is not the apocalyptic catastrophe so many people try to make it out to be. Actually, the notion the Devils are nothing but a bunch of robotic, defense-first zealots who represent an abomination to the game is starting to wear a little thin.…
2 Minutes in the Box WITH PATRICK O’SULLIVAN
What was your ‘welcome to the NHL’ moment? Playing Anaheim and getting hit from behind by Chris Pronger in my first NHL game. Best album of all time? That is a tough one. I’d say anything by The Beatles. Who is your roommate and how is he? In Edmonton I’ve got my own room. Maybe that is because I was just traded, I don’t know. What is the best trash-talk you have ever heard? That’s another tough one. You’d have to ask someone who talks more. I don’t really talk much out there. What was your last job before hockey? I never really had one. I worked at hockey schools and stuff. I always just worked at getting better at hockey and I’ve, luckily, never had to have a job. What is the greatest thing you have seen in the…
Sounding Off Memorable Montreal
On St. Patrick’s Day, my wife and I attended the Canadiens-Rangers game at the Bell Centre and I have to say I have never seen a better atmosphere for a regular season game. The Habs fans were so into every single play, it made the game so exciting. I want to thank all the fans we met at the game who showed us a great time, even though my wife and I were both wearing our Rangers sweaters. The people at the hotel and around town couldn’t be better to us, either. What a classy organization, town and fan base. We will definitely be back. Merci pour un grand temps, Montreal.…
Crowd Shots
Ovechkin should let his play do the talking rather than childish performances Livin’ lovin’ Ovie As a passionate hockey fan, I find too much is being made of Alex Ovechkin and his goal-scoring celebrations by certain commentators and reporters. The commentators have to see that Ovechkin is bringing back something lacking in the players these days - fun. Some players look like they are only playing the game as a job and aren’t enjoying it. With these celebrations Ovechkin shows that he truly has fun while playing and that there’s nothing else he would rather be doing. Hopefully, Ovechkin will remind other players to have fun, remember why they started playing in the first place and that they have a job millions of people would give anything to have. Here’s to Ovechkin bringing back fun to…
