WINGS THRIVE 5-ON-5
PERHAPS IT WASN’T THE BEST TIME to talk to Mike Babcock about how dominant his team has been playing 5-on-5 this year. Just the night before, the Red Wings coach had watched Detroit lose to the worst club in the league and look singularly unimpressive in doing so. But suffice it to say the Wings’ 5-3 loss to Los Angeles in early February, one in which they gave up as many even-strength goals as they scored, was a wild aberration. The Red Wings have not only been the best 5-on-5 team in the league this season, it hasn’t even been close. WHEN IT COMES TO BREEDING, retired NHLer Paul Ysebaert is a busy man. At home, the father of one is waiting for his wife Tera to deliver their second child. “We’ve got one girl (two-year-old Ava Marie) and another girl on the way,” Ysebaert said. “It’s amazing. I didn’t think parenthood would change me that much, but you just can’t believe how wonderful it is until you try it.” At the farm, Ysebaert has some other babies that are a going concern.
