Prospects Unlimited 2024-25
In the 2024-25 edition of our annual Prospects Unlimited issue, we count down the top 100 21-and-under players in the world (with features on Bedard, Celebrini, Demidov, McGroarty and Benson) and profile the Washingon Capitals development system. In addition, we have NHL team pages with features, grades and full rosters for each organization.

NEED TO KNOW
> THE MANDATE IS basic – win the Stanley Cup. But each of the NHL’s 32 teams is at a various stage of that quest. Some are built to contend now. Others are structured to peak two, three or maybe five years down the road. It’s cyclical, and it’s very fluid. To help make the crystal ball a little clearer, we’ve listed each club’s entire organizational roster and noted all the blue-chip and B-list prospects. We’ve also graded each team’s NHL and prospect depth at three positions.…

JERSEY HOUND
THE ONTARIO JR. A League’s Toronto Patriots used to go into battle with baseball-style script on the front of their jerseys, and that was a perfectly good option. But this year, the team has busted out a brand-new logo and used it as the centerpiece. Simply put, the new patriot crest is awesome. It’s original, intimidating and – like many of our favorite logos – would look great on a hat. It would have been easy to go with a knock-off New England Patriots crest, but Toronto went bold with its own creation, and the result pays off. Plus, black and blue is a fitting combination for a sport that never shies away from the rough stuff.…

EDMONTON OILERS
> IN OHL CIRCLES, the London Knights have long been revered for running their team a cut above. Sam O’Reilly seconds that sentiment. “It doesn’t get better than London,” he said. “Nine thousand people every night in the stands cheering us on. The group of guys we have down there, on top of the coaching staff, is pretty unbelievable.” Last spring, O’Reilly’s Knights captured their fifth league championship since Mark and Dale Hunter purchased the team in 2000. Big playoff runs often put draft-eligible players under favorable spotlights, and O’Reilly was no exception. A former defenseman, he moved up front during his U-16 season with the GTHL’s Vaughan Kings, leading to O’Reilly being a second-round selection of the Knights in 2022. He started at right wing, but last season, coach Dale Hunter shifted…

FLORIDA PANTHERS
> THE STANLEY CUP-WINNING Panthers have high expectations for Latvian winger Sandis Vilmanis as potential glue for their middle-six forward group and secondary power-play unit. The 6-foot-1, 192-pounder signed a three-year, entry-level deal in March and is now in the infancy of his pro career with AHL Charlotte. Panthers GM Bill Zito described the 20-year-old, who was a fifth-round pick in 2022, as “a strong skater and skilled forward” with “high character.” Vilmanis had 112 points across 122 OHL games with the Sarnia Sting and North Bay Battalion, including an impressive 28 goals in 30 games with North Bay last year. During training camp, Vilmanis earned praise from Cats coach Paul Maurice while occupying the right side on a line with Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen. “Playing with those guys on one line…
