CHAMPION PENS CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR NEW NEST

A TEAM LOADED with some of the game’s youngest stars won the Stanley Cup while skating in the oldest arena in the NHL. That soon will change for the defending Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, whose lineup has hockey’s most high-profile young players in Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Marc-Andre Fleury. The spacious Consol Energy Center is set to open in the fall of 2010. The facility is being built next to the current arena, which will be demolished once the new site is completed. That means the 2009-10 season will double as a farewell tour of sorts for the Pens and their black-and-gold clad fans as well as opponents visiting the venerable, but outdated Mellon Arena. “We’ve been playing in the oldest arena in hockey. ALL THE GEAR THAT'S FIT TO PRINT

Bauer Hockey has been the biggest name in skates for decades. Now the iconic brand is sizzling and bulldozing to greater popularity across many other equipment categories. DOES HOCKEY HAVE TO BE HUMBLE? True, the game has always had an aw-shucks, almost small-town demeanor to it – especially since a lot of players are from said small towns – but sometimes I feel the sport needs to strut a little more. After all, some of the most dynamic plays in sport occur on NHL ice surfaces and the generation of players making them certainly has personalities that can shine. Hockey’s on-ice product is very exciting right now and the athletes playing the game are only getting better, so let’s boast a little, eh? With that in mind, we present THN Fully Loaded. What you hold in your hands is a tribute to those who swagger in the game. It’s Alex Ovechkin slamming into the boards after scoring, or a…
