• THE RELEASE dates of every one of the NHL post-season releases were broken this year by either newspapers or radio stations or both. Some of these releases were broken by as much as 12 hours. This is causing quite a problem with the National Hockey League…Now that he’s won the Hart Trophy two years in a row Chicago’s Bobby Hull is hoping to become the first player in history to win it three times in succession…Several stars such as Howie. Morenz, Eddie Shore and Gordie Howe have won it two years in succession but they were never able to make it that third year…Gordie Howe who has won the Hart Trophy five times in his eventful NHL career won it two years in a row on two different occasions.…

Hull Climaxes Big Year Winning Hart Again

MONTREAL. Que.— Only four players in the 43year history of the National Hockey League have been able to win the Hart Trophy two years in succession. It is considered one of the NHL’s greatest challenges. This past season it figured that Bobby Hull should win the Hart again as the most valuable player in the NHL. Hull’s feats this year were so spectacular that he won the MVP by one of the biggest margins accorded a Hart Trophy holder. The brilliant Chicago Black Hawk left winger enjoyed a record-breaking season in which he was the only unanimous choice for the NHL’s first allstar team, won the scoring championship by a cool 19 points after establishing records for most goals in a season, 54, most points. 97 and most power play goals. 22. McNab To Head San Diego Gulls, Blades’ Future Seen Doubtful

SAN DIEGO, Calif.— The Western Hockey League’s between-seasons meeting was held in San Diego on May 23-24 with the usual decisive result of such sports gatherings—the bigwigs agreed on the date and place of their next meeting—June 22 in San Francisco. Changes on the managerial and coaching end were the only hard news to break in the session. The June session will come after the annual NHL meeting in Montreal. Presumably, any action the big-leaguers take in regard to expansion, such as whether or not the new franchise-holders will be required to pay indemnities (probably $150,000 per team) to remaining teams in the invaded west will affect WHL affairs next season, one year prior to the planned expansion.
