Czech Ace Nixes U.S. Offer For Olympic Games Chance
MONTREAL— Hockey’s loss is a gain for tennis in the case of Jaroslav Drobny, the netter who was the backbone of the Czechoslovakian Davis cup team. 1947-48 N.H.L. Schedule Gets Approval After Fourth Draft Made By President
MONTREAL A National Hockey League schedule isn’t the kind of thing that somebody dreams up overnight. A great deal of time and work go into the preparation of a schedule. In fact, one season is barely over before the club magnates, rink officials and N. H. L. staff members put on their thinking caps, whip out calendars and get busy on the task of the schedule for the next season. Take the new schedule as an example. Last season’s Stanley Cup final between Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens wound up on April 19 and almost immediately afterwards work was started on the schedule for the 1947-48 season. Four drafts were required before Clarence Campbell,. the N.H.L. president, found a schedule that was given an okay by all six clubs. The clubs start the…
