Detroit Red Wings defensemen Nicklas Lidstrom and Chris Chelios are certain Hockey Hall of Famers when their playing days are done. Coyotes work out off-season regimen

If there’s anyone out there who doesn’t believe the NHL has become a year-round business, they aren’t a member of the Phoenix Coyotes organization. Looking for every kind of edge possible, the Coyotes began holding a voluntary, month-long strength, fitness and conditioning camp June 24 for every player in the system interested in improving his physique, endurance and agility. More than two dozen skaters signed up right away, from rookies to veterans. AHL WEST ATTENDANCE

The 2001-02 season marked the 14th consecutive recordbreaking year for attendance in the AHL. The 27 teams combined to draw 6,366,996 fans in 1,080 games this season. That’s an increase from 4,710,501 fans in 800 games during the 2000-01 season. The South Division led the way with Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at the top.
