So you want to try something completely different? Try watching a hockey game and focusing exclusively on Jon Klemm. There’s a good reason you have never done this before. Watching Klemm is like staring at a well-oiled assembly line. Parts move, things come and go and everything proceeds as it should, efficiently and without worry. Dynamite Blackburn a Ranger for keeps
The kid is up for good. Dan Blackburn, the 18-year-old goaltender, made the New York Rangers’ decision an easy one and clinched his spot as the permanent back-up to Mike Richter with a 45-save, 3-1 win in his native Montreal Dec. 1. After that game, coach Ron Low called Blackburn as good an 18-year-old goalie as he’s ever seen-and he pointed out that he saw Grant Fuhr as a teen, first-hand. Then Low said the Rangers’ first pick in the 2001 draft, 10th overall, isn’t going back to junior this season. “That’s a great opportunity for guys that are playing junior, but this is where I want to be,” Blackburn said.
