Blues not ready to concede division title to Red Wings
Although the Detroit Red Wings loaded up at the traue oeauune for another run at the Stanley Cup, the St. Louis Blues still believe they have a chance to catch them in the Central Division standings. “Everybody's worried that they got better, but if we play our game with the confidence we have been…that's the key,” said Blues' forward Scott Pellerin. “We have to worry about how we play instead of how they're playing… lite pressure is on them to play unbelievable.” The Blues have no such pressure. Their only deadline move was to reacquire Blair Atcheynum by sending a sixth round pick to the Nashville Predators, which picked him in the expansion draft. Poile holds course on long-term plan while pushing for earlier deadline day
In the eyes of Nashville Predators' GM David Poile, a flip of a calendar page is all that's needed. He believes a trade deadline with 12 games to play in the regular season just doesn't make sense. “That's just one manager's opinion, but the things that are happening, the number of trades, is almost ridiculous,” Poile said. “I think it is affecting too much change in a season and it's not right or fair to the game.” In large part, as expected, Poile stood pat in the trading season.
