Hounds impact 1997 sports scene

“It sure doesn’t look like the cutting edge…more like the edge of nowhere. You leave Regina, Sask., and drive south on a highway as flat as a video game. Finally after 30 minutes of wheat fields and the occasional farm house there is a highway sign… Wilcox, Notre Dame College, eight streets and a school yard. Is it possible this tiny village is the home of the Notre Dame Hounds? Looks like Corbet will strike it rich again. Corbet was having the best year of his young career. At the all-star break, the 24-year-old already had matched his career-high with 12 goals. Included among them were two straight gamewinners against the Florida Panthers Jan. 12 and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim Jan. 14. “Sometimes the puck just goes in for you and other times…
