NHL targets 1998 Games
A two-tiered Olympic hockey event has been proposed for the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. The first steps toward a “dream tournament” were taken by the NHL, International Ice Hockey Federation and International Olympic Committee in Lillehammer, Norway. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman met with IIHF president Dr. Gunther Sabetzki and IOC president Juan Antonio Sama-. ranch during the first week of the 1994 Games. The key issue to be resolved for the NHL to participate in four years is scheduling. “We can’t shut down for three weeks,” Bettman said. “We’re not going to do that. Berg holds NHL title as No. 1 Superpest

Anything to drive them to distraction. Berg so infuriated the Vancouver Canucks Jan. 8 in a game in Toronto,…
Demoted Murray says he didn’t get fair shake
Troy Murray understands now you really can’t go home again. Murray’s career with the Chicago Blackhawks ended bitterly Feb. 18 when he reported to the Hawks’ Indianapolis affiliate in the International League after clearing waivers. Murray, 31, claims he wasn’t given a fair chance by coach Darryl Sutter. He appeared in 12 games and had no goals and one assist. He played in four of the first five games of the season before becoming a regular in the press box. “I don’t think I got a fair shot at all,” Murray said. “There have been a couple opportunities to give me a chance to play, but whenever they wanted to change the lineup, I wasn’t the one who got to play.” Sutter said it wasn’t the first time he has heard that from a…
