Pro Set forges ahead despite financial woes
The first of the new card companies to enter the hockey card market three seasons ago is hoping its not about to enter its last season of production. Pro Set, which is operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, has survived long odds to reach the point where it is ready to release its 199293 Series I hockey set. New poster products highlight Bure, Rheaume
For the past three seasons, the Norman James Corp, has made it its goal to produce the finest sports posters in the business. The posters retail for between six dollars and $10 (Cdn.) and can be purchased at major sports stores, specialty shops and NHL-licensed retail outlets. ProStat posters feature two photos-a large central action shot and a personal profile shot. They also include personal statistics in English and French. New for this season are full color action posters without…

Editor’s Note: The Hockey News never opens other’s people’s mail to get its stories. But the following, very businesslike young reader sent us a copy of the following letter to Santa Claus. He wanted us to document his communication…just in case he later finds it advantageous to argue his case in the media. Dear Santa: In past years, my annual Christmas requests have included skates, sticks and other hockey equipment. I’d like to thank you for your consideration and punctual, responsive deliveries. Before I continue, however, I understand you’re an Edmonton Oilers’ fan since they’re the closest team to the North Pole. Because I read The Hockey News, I know what has been going on with the Oilers. So please, don’t try a Peter Pocklington routine on me and feign financial trouble as an…
