PHYSICAL BARON SOARS IN FIRST FULL SEASON
It happened March 13, one of the few nights that month when the Philadelphia Flyers experienced good luck. Having already lost four straight games on a disastrous road trip, the Flyers trailed the Vancouver Canucks going into the third period. But somehow, the Flyers managed to cap off a rally from a 4-1 second-period deficit and send the game into overtime. At this point, just one point would stop the bleeding in the Flyers’ war with New Jersey and Washington for a playoff spot. Then an odd thing happened. INJURY REPORTS VANISH IN PITTSBURGH

The Oilers’ 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of the Smythe Division final April 20 was the fourth straight time they’ve gone into overtime. Part of the reason why is because they couldn’t capitalize on Kings’ penalties. Los Angeles had not allowed a power play since Game 5 against the Vancouver Canucks April 12. TEAMS POWER PLAY / PENALTY KILLING TIME FRAME GAMES PLAYED THROUGH 4/21/91 The accrued time since was 30 minutes, 29 seconds of consecutive power-play time killed. As a result, the Kings vaulted from 11 th to fourth place in our playoff penalty killing ranking. These special team statistics consider how long it takes a team to…
