Chicago Blackhawks’ left winger Steve Larmer played in his 630th consecutive game March 11 against St. Louis to tie Andy Hebenton for the fourth-longest streak in NHL history. That put Larmer 146 games behind Craig Ramsey, who has the third longest streak. The record-holder, Doug Jarvis, played in 962 consecutive games.…

The No. 1-ranked Michigan State Spartans got a third period power-play goal from senior center Kip Miller, then held on to win the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament Final 4-3 over Lake Superior State March 11. After Miller’s goal made it 4-2, the Lakers came to within one when senior left winger Jeff Jablonski scored at 9:39 of the third. That set the stage for an exciting final 10 minutes for the 16,284 fans at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena. But the Lakers just couldn’t get the equalizer. “We did the best we could,” said Lake Superior coach Frank Anzalone. “We played great in the third period, but they were one goal better than us.
