LOSING IS NEW EXPERIENCE FOR SEATTLE GM FARWELL
Russ Farwell is learning how to lose. “This has made me appreciate winning very much,” said the Seattle Thunderbird general manager. “1’11 never take it for granted again. Le Petit Tigre, put together all those spare parts Esposito gathered up from rummage sales around the NHL and turned them into a cohesive unit. You remember Bergeron, of course. He’s the coach who was traded for a first-round draft choice in 1987. a transaction the NHL’s Official Guide And Record Book describes as “one of the most unique in history.” Indeed. With the stock of most coaches down around 1929 levels, a first-rounder seems like a high price to pay. “If they traded me. it would have been for future…

Bryan Fogarty has added his own chapter to the Ontario League record book. The 19-year-old Niagara Falls Thunder defenseman broke two records when he scored two goals and three assists in a 7-2 win over London Feb. 2. “It was so nerve-wracking,” said Fogarty. “I didn’t want this to carry on all season.” When Fogarty scored his first goal of the game at 12:03 of the second period, he tied the record shared by Bobby Orr and Al Maclnnis for goals in one season by a defenseman (38). He also equalled Denis Potvin’s mark for points in a season by a defenseman (123). After 45 games, Fogarty was 39-86-125. Orr set the record for goals in 48 games with Oshawa in 1965-66 and Maclnnis tied the mark in 70 games with Kitchener in 1982-83.…
