DAN KELLY FANS SALUTE AN ORIGINAL

I grew up in St. Louis and have followed the Blues and Dan Kelly since 1967-68, the Blues’ first season. I now reside in Kansas City, but still follow the Blues on the radio, having listened to Kelly’s rich baritone resonate through the static of innumerable games. Because of cable television, I enjoyed watching and listening to Kelly’s televised broadcasts here in Kansas City with hockey friends—most of them from different parts of the U.S. and Canada—all of whom agree Dan Kelly is hockey’s finest broadcaster. St. Louis upset the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 in Lalor’s first game Jan. 17, and after a dismal 5-0 loss to the New York Rangers Jan. 19, rebounded with a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Jan. 21. “I was impressed with the effort,” Lalor said after the victory over Los Angeles. “Everybody worked hard. If we work hard like that all the time, we’re going to win a lot of games. “I’m here and I’m ready to work,” he added. “I’ll try to do the best I can, and hopefully, I can help the team.” Lalor played well. In the three games, he had one assist…

In 39 games this season, he had 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points. He had been sidelined with a cracked wrist since Dec. 31, when he was injured in an exhibition game against Dynamo Riga. “To be honest, we had no problems with Bobby” said Vachon. “We would have liked to have seen him score more goals and finish off more plays.
