‘Comeback Of A Career’ An OHL Record

Ottawa 67’s made Ontario League history March 30. With a 5-0 victory over the Oshawa Generals, Ottawa became the first OHL team to rebound from a 3-0 deficit and win a best-of-seven series. The seventh game was played before a capacity crowd of 9,855, the first sellout at the Ottawa Civic Centre since an Ottawa-Oshawa Leyden Division final series game on April 20, 1982. Making the comeback more dramatic was the fact the 67’s trailed the Generals 5-4 with 24 seconds left in the fourth game, at Oshawa. Bears, Mariners Take AHL Division Crowns

The Hershey Bears celebrated their 50th American League season by winning their 11th division title and sixth overall point championship April 2, with a 3-1 victory over Binghamton in their 79th game. The Bears had to postpone celebrating their second Southern Division title in coach John Paddock’s three years with the club when they lost at Rochester, Adirondack and Utica in games prior to the Binghamton contest. In their season finale, the Bears defeated the Northern Divisionchampion Maine Mariners and finished at 50-27-3, setting a franchise record for victories and points. 105. The night before, the Mariners clinched their fifth division title in 11 seasons—with an assist from Moncton, which defeated Fredericton 10-4.
