McLaughlin Leaves Netminders Feeling Blue

TORONTO—For a guy who wasn’t sure he’d be in university this year, Don McLaughlin has been having himself a pretty fair season with the Toronto Blues. Through 21 games, he led the Ontario Universities Athletic Association in scoring with 57 points. In league play, he had failed to get a point in only one game all season. In the first 10 conference games after Christmas, McLaughlin was party to 37 of his team’s 78 goals. McLaughlin needed seven points in three games to break the league standard of 63, set in 1981 by Paul Stothart of Queen’s. “I think he may be the most dominant forward in this league,” said Blues’ coach Paul Titanic. McLaughlin graduated last year and Titanic wasn’t counting on his return, until the three-time conference all-star enrolled this past September…
