Unlike a year ago, the AHL meetings that coincided with the National Hockey League meetings in Toronto were held without franchise owners playing geographical hopscotch. Divisional alignments, the number of games to be played (80) and the format for the regular season schedule all remained the same. Any disagreements—such as the future handling of the controversial European eligibility rule—were tabled until the regular annual league meetings, July 1 in Bermuda.
