Louisville Hockey H&B 100 YEARS HALIFAX—Don’t be too surprised if Nova Scotia Voyageur coach John Brophy requests a change in the Vees’ schedule for next season. A long homestand, usually the point where a team can earn some needed points in the standings, was one of the major reasons why the Vees experienced yet another mid-season slide. During the skid, the Voyageurs saw their comfortable eight-point lead over the other teams in the division wiped out. By the time it was over. Nova Scotia was in fourth place in the division, the final playoff spot. Falcons Fan Out Flames For Third Title
CHICAGO—A 5-3 win and 5-5 tie against Illinois-Chicago, coupled with key losses by both Michigan State and Ohio State helped Bowling Green clinch its third consecutive Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season title. The Falcons gained their sixth championship in 13 seasons in the CCHA with a third-period rally in the second game against the Flames. In fact, UIC held a 5-2 lead with 10 minutes to play in the game before BG rallied back on goals by Dan Kane, Perry Braun and defenseman Dave Ellett. Bowling Green used a pair of powerplay goals by Ellett and Gino Cavallini just 15 seconds apart to snap a 1-1 tie in the second period of the opener and Dave Randerson scored the winner in the third period.
