NHL Player Of The Week

After a somewhat slow start for him (one goal in the first five games) veteran Darryl Sittier has suddenly found the scoring touch. The captain of the Maple Leafs tried unsuccessfully to win a pair of road games for Toronto on their western swing (they lost 5-4 in Los Angeles and 8-5 in Vancouver) by scoring back-to-back hat tricks, a feat that has not been achieved in the modern day history of the NHL. The Toronto ice leader was the most productive goal getter of the week. Tigers’ Tsujiura Early Scoring Leader; Cougars, Broncos Get New Investors

If you include the 17 games he played with the Tigers in 1977-78,…

Jarvis had a goal and four assists that night. Tony Cassolato scored twice against Binghamton and left winger Lou Franceschetti added three assists. Right wing Eddy Godin also scored twice against the Whalers and veteran Greg Polis found the range to complete the rout. The next night in New Haven the Bears were on the receiving end of a whitewash. Rookie goaltender Steve Weeks stopped 55 shots and led the Nighthawks to a 2-0 win over Hershey. Jim McTaggert almost ruined the 2-0 blanking when…
