QUEBEC—Quebec Nordiques have just one “goal”… they are determined to become the new dynasty in world hockey… and to do it, they are building for tomorrow. General manager and director of hockey personnel, Maurice Filion, heading into his first year in the National Hockey League, says candidly, “with the World Hockey Association, it was not just survival on a year to year basis. Capitals Assembling Superb Defensive Corps

WASHINGTON—It has been general manager Max McNab’s dream to build the Washington Capitals around a strong corps of defensemen—much like those with the Montreal Canadiens the past few years. McNab’s dream is on the verge of being reality. In their sixth year of National Hockey League competition, the Capitals have assembled a superb defensive corps, so good that at least two or three good defenseman won’t even make the club. Washington’s defensemen are big, strong, intelligent and anxious to show everyone just what may be in store this season. The Caps’ first two preseason games allowed the defense corps to show off both offensively and defensively.
