Sudbury’s Star Foligno Sweeps OMJHL Awards
TORONTO— Scoring champion Mike Foligno made quite a sweep of the Ontario Major Junior League awards this season. The outstanding six-foot-two, 192-pound Sudbury Wolves’ right winger won the Red Tilson Award as the most valuable player, the Eddie Powers Trophy as scoring champion and Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the highest-scoring right winger. He was also a near unanimous choice as the first-team All Star right winger. “He had a real good finish,” says Sudbury coach Andy Laing, praising his veteran captain. “He finished up very strong. “That kid has been like an assistant coach to me. I counted on him a lot and he’s been a big help on and off the ice. The big thing about him is he never gets down on himself. “He’s really counting on being drafted very, very high.…

But it’s nice to give somebody else the puck and let them put it in the net. “I think it’s more satisfying for me to get an assist. I never really consider myself a goal scorer. I would say my forte was playmaking. That’s…
