Return To Basics To Save Our Hockey I am one of those hockey enthusiasts who marveled at and fully appreciated the finesse and artistry of the Soviets as they taught the NHL All Stars how the game should be played. I now wonder if this great game on this continent can recover. Will we ever again see the skilled puckmasters of the 30’s, 40’s and early 50’s? All of us in hockey have contributed to the degeneration of the game. Serge Savard is correct when he stated that we have been developing goons while the Russian’s have been developing hockey players.
