Erie Turns It Around Playing ‘Team Hockey’
ERIE— Under head coach and general manager Nick Polano, the Erie Blades are playing a brand of hockey unlike any team in the North Eastern Hockey League. It’s called simply, team hockey. The Blades have no real stars, no scorers in the top 10, but they do possess offensive and defensive balance that has them in second place, hot on the heels of the first place Cherry Hill Aces. As the NEHL’s hottest team, the Blades have won six straight games, seven of their last eight and own a 10-2-1 record in the past 13 games which comes out to a winning margin of 21 of a possible 26 points. Since their slow start at the beginning of the season that saw them split their first 10 games, Polano has acquired a few new…
Canadiens Close 78 With Showdown Victory

The Bruins were just two points behind the Canadiens and held a game in hand. For two periods it was an excellent match, at least from a fans’ viewpoint. The only thing which separated the two teams was a 20-second span…
Ohio State, WMU Broncos Divide; Surprising Billikens Sweep Brown
KALAMAZOO— Ohio State and Western Michigan traded lopsided victories in the only Central Collegiate Hockey Association league action during the first week of the Christmas break. The host Broncos of Western Michigan knocked off the second place Ohio State club 8-3 in the opener and the Buckeyes bounced back with a 10-6 win in the second game. CCHA player-of-the-week, Bernie Saunders paced the Broncos in the opener, collecting three goals. Captain Saunder put WMU on the scoreboard in Lawson Arena at the 3:34 mark of the first period and Terry Olson scored at 5:48 to make the score 2-0. OSU junior Tom Scanlon converted on a power play chance at 10:52 and Ohio State trailed 2-1. The Broncos scored twice in 30 seconds with Saunders scoring at 15:28 and Dave Berthelsen scoring at 15:58 and WMU…
