Bill Fleischman's HOCKEY WORLD
Game Of Week Good Move THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE is often condemned, and rightly so, for postponing action on its problems. In many cases', owners with winning teams and full buildings act as if they can't be bothered with their league's headaches. One area where the NHL deserves credit for taking positive action is its “Monday night with Marv and either Gene, Jiggs or Dan” show. The interest created by the NHL's nationally televised Monday night games is merely a ripple compared with Monday night football, but for those concerned with expanding hockey's appeal, the NHL games are at least a start. Goldup Returns In Time To Help Los Angeles

Crippled Hawks Show Determination In Winning
DALLAS— With the toughest part of their schedule facing them and some serious injuries depleting their roster, coach Roger Neilson and the Dallas Hawks have emerged as serious challengers for the Adams Cup. Despite the loss of forwards Greg Hubick and Alain Belanger and All Star defenseman Ian McKegney along with nagging injuries to defensemen Mike O'Connell and Randy Holt that limited their effectiveness, the Hawks have won eight along with one tie in their last 10 games including four wins in five games last week. Goalie Mike Veisor registered his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 whitewash over the Tulsa Oilers in Dallas. The shut-out was the 13th of his CHL career, tieing him with former Black Hawk Michel Dumas for the all-time lead in that category. Rookie Gary McFadyen…
