Canadiens, Flyers Dominate Teams For Vancouver's All Star Classic

VANCOUVER— The City of Vancouver was preparing to spread the welcome mat for their first ever National Hockey League All Star game and indications were the hallowed walls of the Pacific Coliseum could very well reverberate with the sounds of vengeance. It goes without saying the Clarence Campbell Division All Stars are smarting over two straight losses at the hands of the Prince of Wales selects and they have vowed that things will be different this year. Coached by Philadelphia's Fred Shero, the Campbells will have a major representation of Flyer players to turn the tide on the Wales, something that they were unable to do in 1975 at Montreal when the Wales romped to a 7-1 win and again last year in the friendly confines of the Philadelphia Spectrum where the Wales…

PHILADELPHIA— General Keith Alien is certainly a stubborn chap. Alien's Philadelphia militia had been surrounded and left shell-shocked by Montreal's incredibly efficient troops, but Allen refused to concede a second consecutive Stanley Cup to Gen. Bowman's Canadiens. “Until I see our top effort—individually and as a team—fail. I'm not saying we can't beat them,'' Allen said, his jaw thrust forward defiantly. “Did you see anyone going well the other night, outside of Bernie. Dorny and Bennett?'' Allen asked, referring to Montreal's 6-4 nationally televised Monday night feature. “I don't think that in my 10 years in the league I've ever seen a team play as well against us as they did. Even in the early expansion years we never got bombarded like that.” Montreal's 55 shots on Bernie Parent, including a 19-3 first-period shot advantage…
