MILWAUKEE— Playoff time, the season when anything can happen and usually does, is upon the United States Hockey League, as the first round of post-season play featured two majorsurprises. Fifth-place Milwaukee Admirals surprised Southern Division champion Sioux City Musketeers with two straight victories to knock off the Sioux in the best-of-three series, while fourth-place Traverse City Bays dropped Southern Division runnersup, Waterloo Black Hawks, in two consecutive contests to advance into league semi-finals. Even league-champion Green Bay Bobcats, who were at Stevens Point to face Central Wisconsin in the first two games of their best-of-five series, could manage no better than a split of the games, after losing the initial playoff match, 4-3.
