Scouts Laughing But Fans Not Amused
KANSAS CITY— Even though the Scouts are at the bottom of the NHL standings, they have looked adversity in the eye and come away laughing. There is nothing funny about their performance, but the Scouts must be admired for the sense of humor with which they accept it. And for every game they lose, they win two points for quotable quotes. There was the game March 16 in Kemper Arena, when the Black Hawks ruined the Scouts with a 4-goal second period to take a 6-3 decision. The loss marked the Scouts’ 16th straight winless game, the second time this season they reached sweet 16. Spirits were so low they were high. Dad, Sons Stage Own Irish Shootout
HOUSTON— Gordie Howe has his own particular way of sending St. Patrick’s Day greetings home to his wife. Howe said he isn’t Irish, but his wife Colleen is. Her maiden name was Mulvaney. “I didn’t send her a St.Patrick’s Day Card.” said Howe, 48 on Mar. 31, “so this was the the next best thing I could do.” “This” was four goals and two assists in Houston’s 7-4 victory over the Phoenix Roadrunners in Phoenix St. Patrick’s night. “The kids chipped in with one goal each, so I imagine their mot her’s pretty happy.” Gordie has been doing it all for the Aeros this season.
