Struggling Hawks Try To Get Physical
CHICAGO— People have said, with sarcasm intended, that when push comes to shove, the Black Hawks will do neither. It has also been forecast that if and when a hockey club ever wins the Nobel Peace Prize, the Black Hawks will do it. And finally, reports of Lady Byng’s death in Philadelphia have been greatly exaggerated. She merely moved to Chicago, where things are more peaceful. But, with all due respect to Emily Post, the Black Hawks say they would like to change their image. They don’t want to become a tribe, mind you, interested in only that cheap, physical stuff. Mid-Atlcmtic League The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers virtually buried all competition in the MidAtlantic Regional Playoffs, scoring 40 goals in just three games, while allowing only five against them. They will represent that region in the MidAmerica Sectional Tournament to be held in Dayton, Ohio. Other entrants in the Mid-Atlantic meet were Roc-Ice Meteors, Sport-O-Rama Saints and Essex Rockets. The Philly Jrs. dumpe Roc-Ice 12-3 with Henry Coxe leading the way with a hat trick. Pat Monohan had two goals and two assists, Artie Jackson one goal and four assists and goaltender Randy Maisch had to come up with just 10 saves. The winners unloaded 63 shots on the Roc-Ice goal. Against the SOR Saints, the Flyers exploded for 18 goals, with goalie Drew Schaeffer needing just 11 saves to register the whitewash. Monohan…
