KANSAS CITY— The First Annual Simon Nolet belated birthday party on wheels rolled to a stop in Kansas City at 3:30 on Thanksgiving morning, long after some of the celebrants had fallen asleep. Paving the way for the festivities. which got under way when the Kansas City Scouts’ chartered bus left the St. Louis Arena four hours earlier, was the first major snowstorm of the season in the Midwest. Making the party all the merrier was the way the Scouts scrapped to gain a 3-3 tie with the Blues the night before. “This team played a heck of a hockey game.” said Bep Guidolin, the Scouts’ coach. “And they did it when they were short handed.” Jean-Guy Lagace. the club’s top defenseman. missed everything—the game and the party. Colorado College Turns It Around As Mio’s Coaling Pulls Tigers Up

COLORADO SPRINGS— Colorado College goalie Eddie Mio was starting to talk to himself a few weeks ago. The All-American from Windsor was allowing goals by the bushel, his club wasn’t playing well and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association race was leaving them behind. But then prior to a series against Minnesota-Duluth (Nov. 28-29), the Tigers got together and hashed over their faults. And they came to the conclusion that since they had practically the same team as a year ago when they finished third in the WCHA, there was no good reason why they shouldn’t be winning.
