Pappin’s Arrival To Give Offense Big Lift
OAKLAND— The biggest news from the California Seals since Mel Swig established beyond a doubt that he owned the team came during an Eastern road swing when it was announced that high-scoring right winger Jim Pappin would join the club at long last. Pappin had balked at reporting to his team for a variety of personal and domestic reasons after being traded by the Chicago Black Hawks to the Seals in exchange for Joey Johnston. October 11: Washington blows a 3-0 lead, rallies on goals by Tony White and Tommy Williams to take a 5-4 advantage. Still have a tie with…

The only problem was the club was headed out on a road trip that took them to St. Louis, Vancouver, Oakland and Los Angeles. The Blues deepened their gloom by winning the first game 7-3 but hopes were lifted when the Flames went into Vancouver and topped the Canucks 3-2. Several nights later in Oakland Phil Myre came up with a flawless performance and the Flames did it again 20 and it looked as though they were on their way but the Kings dashed their dreams with a 3-1 victory…
