Future Outlook Much Brighter For Vancouverites
VANCOUVER— At 17:06 of overtime in the fifth game of their quarter-final series with the Montreal Canadiens the season abruptly ended for the Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately it was more a matter of self destructing than getting beaten, but the Canucks can look back on the 1974-75 National Hockey League season with pride for all that. They had finished first in their own Smythe Division. No one had expected that. Then they defeated the Canadiens 2-1 in game two of their first-ever playoff series and did it right in the Montreal Forum. No one expected that, either, least of all the Canadiens. And before finally bowing out they took the Canadiens into overtime at the Forum before losing the game 5-4 and the series 4-1.
