Tigers’ Murdoch Unequalled Rookie Scorer
MEDICINE HAT— How often does a Don Murdoch come along? Once in a decade? Once in a lifetime? Who knows. As a rookie goal-scorer, with the Medicine Hat Tigers Murdoch has been without an equal in the history of the Western Canada Hockey League. When it comes to filling nets, they call him ‘the Fisherman’. The statistical story which has accompagnied Murdoch through the I974-75 WCHL season belongs in an adding machine. He has cut so many records and come close to so many others, his name belongs on an RCA label. On Jan. 18, Murdoch scored his 50th goal in his 41st game, the fastest 50 by any rookie to ever crack the western major circuit. The fastest 50 goals by any WCHL skater came in 34 games, by Ron Chipperfield of Brandon…

Oldest Player On Stars’ Roster, Oliver Wants To Stay With Club
TWIN CITIES— In the not too distant future, like in a matter of weeks. general manager Jack Gordon of the Minnesota North Stars will bring down the gavel calling into session the meeting to decide who will, or will not, be in the club’s remodeling program for 1975-76. The name of one Murray “Muzz” Oliver is surely to come up. The 37-year-old center, who has played both wing positions for the team, is the oldest player on the roster, a roster filled with youngsters. When, and where is Oliver’s main concern at the moment, the 1975-76 season is just about a month old. Muzz will mark his 38th birthday early in his 16th season in the National League. “You know.” he observed recently, “I’m in a funny situation. My contract is up this…
