The Split Save It’s not likely you’ll ever be a ballet dancer, but they’re probably in better physical condition than any sportsman you’ll ever see. For instance, who do you know who can do a full split? The split is a great move if there’s an ice-surface shot coming at you from the side. Here’s the drill: Push of the foot farthest from the puck. At the same time stretch the other foot towards the spot you except the puck to arrive at the goal mouth. Keep the toes of that second foot upright so you get maximum reach and can keep the leg straight at the knee so there’s no gap under it for the puck to slide through. Wings’ Biggest Foreign Expenditure Goes Down The Drain With Bergman

DETROIT— No team has spent more money in Europe and gotten less out of it than the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings’ biggest expenditure for a foreign player, which then general manager Ned Harkness described as “a pile and he’s worth every cent of it”, went down the drain when the club asked waivers on Sewdish defenseman Thommie Bergman in order to give him his unconditional release.
