TOROS GET DOREY TORONTO— Defenseman Jim Dorey is back where he started in big league hockey but not with the team he began his pro career with. Dorey was traded by the New England Whalers to the Toronto Toros to complete a deal the two clubs made earlier this season when Wayne Carleton was shipped from the Toros to the Whalers. Dorey played with the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers before jumping to the WHA with the Whalers. LETHBRIDGE— There were 11 Western Canada Hockey League clubs who were hoping to do a little Bronco-busting this season, figuring Lethbridge leader Bryan Trottier would have a motivation problem Trottier, heart of the Lethbridge Bronco attack, has thrived on a goal-busting escapade of his own, despite a lucrative professional contract which awaits in New York. Obviously Trottier has set up a personal incentive program which has kept his mind off any pots of gold which await him in the future. The Lethbridge captain is only 18 years old and actually has another year of WCHL eligibility remaining after this season. Plenty Of Time Remaining For Wings To Make Their Move

DETROIT — Alex Delvecchio continues to maintain that there is plenty of time remaining for his Detroit Red Wings to make a move in the Norris Division. But events would seem to differ with the managercoach’s assessment. Now Mickey Redmond is out. most likely for the rest of the season, while recuperating from back surgery that was performed at the University of Michigan Hospital. And how do you replace a man who has scored 50-plus goals two straight seasons, the only 50-goal man in the history of the club?
