Cherry Razor Shaves Sabre Margin Over Bruins
BOSTON— The jury is still out on whether Bruins’ coach Don Cherry looks better with or without his mustache, but so far as the Bruins are concerned, his razor did the trick for them. Cherry’s not superstitious—of course not. But when the club was sputtering a bit, and had lost to Canadiens in Boston Garden, he readily agreed when the players suggested that he shave the hirsute adornment. “It came after the loss to Montreal.” says the coach. “Some of the guys said that if shaved it. we wouldn’t lose again. New Caps Blundered Not Retaining Seiling At the beginning of the current NHL season, Washington Capitals’ GM Milt Schmidt made an undeniably true comment. He said that the expansion draft was unfair and that the Caps hadn’t got their money’s worth. Well, NHL benevolence works in strange ways. A few weeks ago, Rod Seiling was made available on waivers and wisely snatched up by Washington. But, before he had broken in his star-spangled sweater, he was dealt to Toronto for Willie Brossart and Tim Ecclestone. They are good hockey players but still, it was a one-sided deal.
