Minnesota Stars Streak Into Lead Dropping St. Paul From MJHL Perch

BLOOMINGTON— The Minnesota Junior Stars picked up three wins in four games last week to strengthen their hold on first place in the Midwest Junior Hockey League with 27 points, a five-point lead on second-place St. Paul. On an individual basis, it was a big week for center Jim Gliniany of Minneapolis Edison, who took over the Minnesota scoring lead with 26 points from Jeff Furney. and for rookie goalie Chuck Holman, who played four games in five days with 104 saves and 12 goals against. Gliniany scored six goals and two assists in two games for his eight point week. Canadiens’ Youth Movement Bears Fruit

MONTREAL— When it happened no one could for-see anything good developing. Henri Richard, the venerable captain of the Montreal Canadiens. had fractured his ankle and would be out of the lineup anywhere from six weeks to infinity. It appeared to be a crippling blow to the Canadiens. But Henri’s break could turn out to be one of the best breaks of the season for the Canadiens. With Richard out of action the Canadiens called up rookies Doug Risebrough and Mario Tremblay from the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and the pair, whose combined ages equal Richard’s 38 years, could be the ones to lead the Habs into first place.
