Kitchener Advances Sweeping Sudbury Out
OHA MAJOR HOCKEY LEAGUE KITCHENER— Sudbury Wolves have been eliminated from further post season play following their fourth straight loss at the hands of the pennant-winning Kitchener Rangers, and the fourth place finishing London Knights had their backs to the wall after suffering at third straight loss to the Toronto Marlboros in the first round of the Ontario Major Hockey Association playoff. Sudbury provided little in the way of opposition as the powerful Kitchener club rolled through easy 4-0. 4-3. 9-1. and 2-0 scores to bury the Wolves. Rookie goaler Don Edwards, sporting an impressive 2.64 average over the season, picked up the shutout for the OHA titleholders in game on and played solidly in his other performances. Wexford Wins Second Straight Junior Titie
TORONTO— Wexford Raiders won their second successive Ontario Hockey Association Provincial Junior ‘A’ championship to advance into the OH A playdowns against Windsor Spitfires. The Raiders defeated Aurora Tigers 8-6 to win their best-of-seven series 4-1 in games and earn the right to oppose Windsor, the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League title do titleholders, in the a best-of-seven OHA semi-final series. Bill Hassard. the Raiders’ exciting left winger, scored two goals in the series clincher against Aurora and was named the most valuable player of the Wexford-Aurora series. Archie King of the Raiders scored into an empty net in the final game to put the contest away with three seconds remaining to play. The Raiders, coached by Ted Tobias, are matched against Windsor after the Spitfires defeated Chatham Maroons in the SOHL finals. It…
