Vagabond Kannegiesser Hopes Trading Will End With Latest Move To LA
LOS ANGELES— The name is German. Apparently the New York Rangers couldn’t pronounce it. They have traded Sheldon Bruce Kannegiesser three times. The Rangers have a habit of keeping strings on players, yanking them back and forth to and from other teams like a yo-yo. Maybe they figure if they copy the Canadien’s operation someday they’ll catch them. Kannegiesser originally was Ranger property. pre-draft. He graduated from the Kitchener Rangers in amateur play, didn’t make the New York club and played three seasons with their minor league farm clubs in Omaha and Buffalo. Flames Expect Youth Movement To Pay Off
ATLANTA — As the Atlanta Flames continue to wobble uncertainly during these waning days of 1973, threatening actions are being taken in the Midwest. Corn and wheat may be lying dormant under the winter freeze, but young men such as Vic Mercredi, Eric Vail and Don Martineau are bursting with vitality. They are part of a group the Flames’ management hopes will carry Atlanta to the Stanley cup playoff at some not-too-distant time.
