No Wins, But Stars Tying At Hot Pace
TWIN CITIES— In a rocky start to a National Hockey League season which has he Minnesota North Stars groping are any type of consolation, they at least headed for what would an NHL record in ties. After their first eight games, the worth Stars had no victories, three and five ties. The record for games is 24, set by the Piladelphia Flyers in the 1969-70 season, and at the moment the Stars are well ahead of that. In The East RICK MARTIN—Buffalo Sabres When Buffalo superstar and French Connection line center Gilbert Perrault was sidelined with a broken leg, many people wondered what would happen to his linemates Rick Martin and Rene Robert. Well, Robert is getting along fine and Martin seems to have responded to the added responsibility in a more than adequate manner. Martin scored all three goals as the Sabres nipped the California Golden Seals 3-2. A few nights later he scored his eleventh goal of the season (in just 11 games) to salvage a 1-1 tie with Montreal Canadiens. How is Martin getting along without Perreault? Just fine, thank you.
