Reds’ Sacharuk Turns Into One-Man Show

BOSTON— One point in two games — not exactly Matt Ravlich’s idea of a fast start. “But we’ll take it just the same,” assured the Boston Braves player/coach, “considering how lucky we were to get it.” Ravlich was referring to the furious three goal, third period comeback his warriors staged to salvage a 3-3 standoff with the mighty Rochester Amerks two weekends ago. “We were fortunate to escape from that one with a tie,” Ravlich admitted. “We played two periods of sub-par hockey, but still managed to come away in decent shape.” The Braves weren’t as lucky in their home and season opener with the streaking Providence Reds, however, absorbing a sound 5-1 whipping. “We didn’t show much against the Reds,” confessed Ravlich. “They came at us from the start, and we were never able…

Sharks Hoping Tardif Can Hit For 40 Goals

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Sharks welcomed Marc Tardif to the fold when he reported after Oct. I deadline. Coach Terry Slater feels Tardif can be a super star in the WH A. Since the Sharks need scoring it is hoped Marc can hit for 40 goals or more. Los Angeles has team toughness that is deceiving. The Cleveland Crusaders sent a passle of players to Jacksonville of the AHL. but their defense corps will still be the backbone of the team, along with goalie Gerry Cheevers. With Ken Dryden retired for a season. Cheevers has to rate one-two-three in any rating of pro hockey’s goaltenders. The Crusaders’ defense lists both the Hillman brothers. Wayne and Larry. Larry played on four Stanley Cup winners in his long NHL career, but Wayne…
