Plager Sees Blues’ Vets Key To ‘73
ST LOUIS— Barclay Plager is an enthusiastic captain of the St. Louis Blues. The rugged Plager is a true lover of the game he plays, and his positive attitudes are undoubtedly one of the reasons he was chosen captain of the team last season. If other players become depressed, Plager becomes even more determined to have the Blues succeed. Plager views his role as captain quite realistically. He knows that the distinction of being captain does not give him the power to solve whatever individual or collective problems the team may contain. Crusaders Expect To Go All Way With Addition Of The Hillmans

Both players have extensive backgrounds in the National Hockey League. Larry has skated the past two seasons with the Buffalo Sabres while…
Kings’ Roster Shows Surplus For First Time In Six Years
LOS ANGELES— Competition for positions on the final roster of the Kings is more intense this pre-season than in the previous six seasons the club has been in Los Angeles. “We are not another Montreal by any means, but we have more major league players now than ever before,” points out manager Larry Regan. The Kings must stock two top level minor league teams this season, having added the Portland Western Hockey League operation to their original Springfield American Hockey League operation. Ron Stewart has signed to coach Portland and with Springfield coach Jerry Toppazzini and L.A. coach Bob Pulford is overseeing the three-rink Victoria conditioning circus. Opening camp, the Kings had 29 players on their Los Angeles roster, 18 players on their Portland roster, 14 on their Spingfield roster and 31 amateurs in…
