Week of Turmoil Throws Crozier, Sabres Into Tizzy

BUFFALO — Joe Crozier, coach of the Buffalo Sabres, will long remember the week that was but wished it wasn’t. It started on Feb. 5, the day after his club had knocked off the New York Islanders, 5-1, with a show of the scoring power they had displayed early in the season. Things didn’t look bad. Then Joe got to his Memorial Auditorium off ice Monday morning and learned that his ace left winger, Rick Martin, was running a temperature and was on his way to a hospital bed. Martin, the club’s third highest scorer and left wing on the much-publicized French Line, had what was diagnosed as a severe bronchial condition. That was only the beginning. Muscular Flyers Put It All Together

PHILADELPHIA— Some reasons for the Philadelphia Flyers rise in the NHL West Division are as obvious as Catherine Deneuve’s beauty. One is the highest powered offense in the club’s six-year history. Helping Flyers climb into second place have been 20-goal scorers Rick MacLeish and Bill Flett, and 20-goal scorers Bobby Clarke, Gary Dornhoefer and rookie Bill Barber. Another reason is that the Flyers’ are popping out all over with muscles. As the season headed into its final seven weeks, five Flyers - Bob Kelly, Andre (Moose) Dupont, Dornhoefer, Dave Schultz, and Don Saleski — had battled and bruised their way to over 100 penalty minutes. Keogan’s Four-Goal Outburst, Barlow Return Top WHL Action

DENVER— Murray Keogan is the third Denver Spur to score four goals in a single game. He is also the fourth. Keogan counted his second four-goal game of the season in a 7-2 victory over Portland Buckaroos. The 23-year-old center from Bigger, Sask., was named Western Hockey League player of the week for his nine point production in three games. He had tive goals and four assists. The first two Spurs to collect four-goal games are Wilf Martin, in 1969-70, and Jim Shires, in 1971-72. Keogan has scored 13 points, including six goals, in his last four games and his line has collected 31 scoring points in that four-game span. Rightwinger Don Borgeson, the geam’s scoring leader, counted 47—11 and left winger Jack Borotsik 3-4—7 in the hot streak. Borgeson has 51 points, including 21…
