PHOENIX— Aut Erickson still wakes up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. He has a recurring nightmare. “I get sick.” said the Phoenix Roadrunners’ coach, “every time I think how close I came to making a terrible mistake.” He did make the mistake, but rectified it before any damage was done. Bob Whitlock was cut from the team in early season but a rash of injuries prompted Erickson to recall the 22-year-old forward. Installed at center ice, he went on a goal scoring streak. Guindon, Stewart Lead Way As Wings Continue Hot Run

FORT WORTH— The Fort Worth Wings are still giving it the old college try in their efforts to get out of the Central Hockey League cellar and land a playoff berth. The Wings, making a desperate stretch run, had won three straight games, and were unbeaten in five, before tumbling to Dallas’ hot Hawks. Mar. 4. Still that was only Fort Worth’s second loss in their last 13 games. Bobby Guindon had a hat trick and Ross Perkins became the CHL’s No. 2 scorer during the hot run, but Ralph Stewart had the biggest scoring week for the surging Wings. Stewart had a goal and five assists in two games, as he assisted on all three of Guindon’s in the March 4 loss to Dallas. The capable center has played only 22 games for…
