Unhappy In Oakland, Seals Trade Vadnais
OAKLAND— One way or another, Carol Vadnais was to be the future of the California Golden Seals. With him, the Seals had a colorful player to build a young team around. They named the West Division all star defenseman captain and hoped his leadership would rally a last-place team into the playoffs this season. Without him, that is if California should trade Carol, the club figured to get a package deal for its most valuable player. Certainly, many National Hockey League teams had tried for the flamboyant defenseman. With less than one-third of the season remaining and the Seals entrenched in a fight to make the playoffs, California went with the second alternative. The Golden Seals traded Vadnais to Boston for Reg Leach, Rick Smith and Bob Stewart. Other deals for Carol were turned down this…

Player Of The Week
Don Blackburn of the Providence Reds continues to fight off challenges to the individual AHL scoring leadership and at last count, the veteran right winger was doing all right. Rugged Bob Plager Coes On Despite Injuries
ST. LOUIS— Every hockey player from time to time must play with minor injuries. Right at this time the rugged defenseman is playing with a nagging back injury that makes normal movements distressingly uncomfortable, a broken rib that is slow in healing and a right thigh plagued by a golfball-size calcium deposit that prevents him from sitting squarely on a chair. The injuries obviously…

HOW DO YOU PROTECT A MILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT LIKE BOBBY HULL?
Bobby Hull’s value to his team is substantial. His value to hockey is virtually immeasurable. Yet other players of lesser skills are constantly attempting to minimize his effectiveness. They check him harder. Watch him more closely. Follow him everywhere. And Bobby copes not only with them but with all the normal hockey situations. A fall. A stick. A stray shot. And more. Bobby is outfitted from his Tackaberry skates to his shoulder pads with CCM equipment. He knows as a member of our Advisory Board that all our hockey equipment must satisfy not only himself but our other Advisory Board members. If it doesn’t, the design is improved to meet CCM’s consistently high standards. Bobby Hull, the million dollar investment, is protected by CCM. We’re very happy about it. And we’re certain the…
