Waivers Recalled As Taylor, Corrigan Pour It On

VANCOUVER They began their trying period on waivers, apparently not long for the National Hockey League and certainly not long for the Vancouver Canucks. Then, in one satisfying weekend burst, everything changed. Ted Taylor and Mike Corrigan were again Canucks in good standing. A Saturday night 4-4 tie with the Buffalo Sabres and a Sunday afternoon 6-2 victory over the Chicago Black Hawks—Vancouver’s first-ever win over Chicago—was the turning point. Left winger Taylor scored a goal against Buffalo, then added two goals and an assist against Chicago. Corrigan contributed a goal and an assist to Vancouver’s three-point weekend and, in the words of coach Hal Laycoe, “played like a National Hockey League center.” Taylor’s case was the more intriguing of the two. MILLION DOLLAR MASK

Since 1955 I have been working to find a mask that could combine: protection, good visibility and lightness. I was never completely satisfied until I found the “FUTURAMIC” model last year…with the stream lines to deflect pucks easier. I am now offering you this same “FUTURAMIC” mask that I, and many of the best goalies in the world use. I have so much confidence in them, that I will replace each one that might break under normal use. Furthermore, an insurance company has insured each mask for ONE MILLION dollars, against bodily damages. No company would have done so, if they didn’t have faith in my mask. You should find them in your local sport stores. If not, write me at: 1259 Didace street, Magog, P.Q.,Canada and will gladly send you some literature.…

Nolet Top Flyer As Hot Scoring Wins Three Games

PHILADELPHIA— It may seem a bit strange, but Simon Nolet appreciates what John Ferguson did for him this past summer. Nolet, you see, represents Molson’s Brewery in his home area of Quebec Province and these handshaking missions to bars and restaurants constantly turn into long conversations about his personal achievements on the ice. Whenever the subject was Nolet’s goal scoring, though, he was forced to beg off. Nine goals isn’t much to talk about. This is where Ferguson, the recently retired Canadiens’ policeman, came in. The conversation naturally switched to their big fight in Montreal Forum last season and punches naturally replaced goals as subject matter. Why Ferguson? Because probably more people saw Nolet battle Fergie with fists last season than saw him score all of his goals combined. After all, it took place on…
