Rookies See Parent Trade As Big ‘Break’

PHILADELPHIA— Michel Belhumeur of the Quebec Aces joins those who were shocked at the Fivers’ trade of goaltender Bernie Parent to Toronto but confesses he was happy, in a way, to see it happen. “Bernie is an excellent goaltender and one of the best in the business,” says Mike. “But he and Doug Favell are both so young and so good that it was making it so difficult for Bobby Taylor and me to get to the NHL ourselves some day.” This is due to the fact that Parent and Favell are both only 25. DETROIT— One thing is certain about this season. Never in its history has the Red Wing Alumni Associaton had so many new candidates for membership. If all the Old Boys show up at one time in the future they’ll have to find a separate room for the Class of ’70-71…maybe the grand ballroom of the Sheraton Cadillac.
