Following are the latest player movements in hockey: NATIONAL LEAGUE MONTREAL — Mickey Redmond, Guy Charron and Bill Collins, forwards, traded to Detroit in exchange for Frank Mahovlich, forward. Phil Roberto, forward, recalled from Montreal Voyageurs of AHL. DETROIT — Mickey Redmond, forward, placed on disabled list indefinitely after suffering severe ankle sprain. Don McLeod, goalkeeper, returned to Fort Worth of CHL. PITTSBURGH — Yvon Labre, defenseman. recalled from Amarillo of CHL as replacement for Bryan Watson, defenseman. placed on disabled list for rest of season after breaking leg. Ken Schinkel, forward, placed on disabled list for two months following operation for shoulder separation. LOS ANGELES—Jean Potvin, defensemen, returned to Springfield of AHL. Big M Instant Hit As New Canadien Star
MONTREAL— Frank Mahovlich hasn’t exactly been out of place in his new environment as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. In fact the Big M has played so well you would suspect he’s been here all along and not a member of the Detroit Red Wings, who turned him loose this past week in one of those three-for-one swaps that is inevitably accompanied by the old bromide, “we hated to give him up, but…” Mahovlich, one of hockeys elite 400-goal scorers, was sent to the Canadiens in return for right wingers Mickey Redmond and Bill Collins and a rookie portsider Guy Charron.
