Kinas’ ‘Giant Line’ On Wild Scoring Spree

SPRINGFIELD— The “Giant Line” has been doing a great job for the Kings this season. They are collection of three veteran skaters. of the time, they play as a unit but often, due to injuries to other players, they break up to help out the other lines. Gordon Labossiere, Doug Robinson and Marc Dufour make up the “Giant Line”. They have plenty of good hockey savvy and know how. Labossiere and Robinson spent time with the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL while Dufour has played strictly in the minors. In a recent game in which the Kings walloped Baltimore 9-4, the line went on a 19—point scoring rampage accounting for eight of the nine goals. McLellan Raps Leafs Mouthing Off Tactics With Ricky Ley Target

TORONTO— This city’s Maple Leafs can’t afford to give away a single thing in terms of manpower. Even at full strength, they aren’t one of the National Hockey League’s outstanding teams. They’re weak, in fact, faced with a difficult struggle in qualifying for the Stanley Cup play-Offs. It was easy to understand, therefore, why coach Johnny McLellan was so annoyed at defenseman Ricky Ley recently. Ley received 10-minute misconducts in successive games and for nothing more significant than arguing with the referee—a waste of time under the best of circumstances. “That’ll cost him,” McLellan said, indicating that Ley faced a club fine, as well as the amount he would be required, automatically, to pay league headquarters.
