Americans Keep Fingers Crossed As Cotton Hit By Another Injury
ROCHESTER— John Gofton was happy the Rochester Americans were sold recently…until he found out the purchaser was not Medicare but Medicor. Medicare is a health insurance organization, and since the hustling Amerk left wing hasn’t made it healthy through a full season of hockey since graduating from Junior A in 1964. having a health insurance group as your boss seemed to Gofton to be a fine idea. Medicor. the outfit that bought Northwest Sports Enterprises (including the Vancouver Canucks of the Western League and Rochester of the American League) did start out renting medical equipment to hospitals, but since has shifted into the entertainment field. The speedy Gofton fits in there, too, because he has been very entertaining to the Amerk fans this season. But nobody can blame him for being reluctant to literally…


PAPPIN FLYING AGAIN FOR HAWKS
CHICAGO— Jimmy Pappin has been taking a pretty rough going over from Black Hawks’ fans in this most troubled year. Apparently, however, Chicago’s sometimes caustic fans haven’t been any tougher on the big veteran right wing than he’s been on himself. Jimmy revealed just how self-critical he’s been after a recent victory over Minnesota, in which he scored the third three-goal hat trick of his career. “I had a lot of time to think while I was sick.” said Jim. who missed nine games while recovering from a sort of mystery ailment which had him hospitalized for better than a week. “And during most of that time, what I thought of was how lousy I bad been going. Clinton Leaving New Haven Behind; Nashville’s Sprange On Hot Streak
NEW HAVEN— The New Haven Blades have been fortified by the return of two of their star operatives, but the minions of Don Perry must win the “big” games in the waning portion of the Eastern Hockey League campaign to catch the front-running Clinton Comets. New Haven is delighted to get Mike Rouleau and Kevin Morrison back in a healthy state after the pair each missed more than 20 games due to major injuries. Perhaps the duo will enable the Blades to win the crucial games like a recent one at Clinton. The Blades had a 2-1 lead with 27 seconds left but allowed the Comets to get off the hook and tie.
